I Love Twitter .. BUT Am I Missing Somthing?

Good Morning All!

It is January 5, 2009 ... the first official work day of the new year! Hope you are off and running with wonder in your eyes and excitement in your hearts!

My thoughts this morning lie around what I believe is the "HOT" resource for all to be using in 2009 ... and that resource is Twitter. If you are not on it yet, get on it. My weekly mailing will address more about this with details on how to start if you are not already using Twitter. If you are not on my weekly mailing list go to the side of my blog to the subscribe links.

This blog posting is about the way people use Twitter. I am discovering as my connections increase that some of the internet gurus are "constantly" sending out tweets. I will receive up to 10 or more in a row from the same people. Often they are replies to specific people, but their tweets are beginning to annoy me!

Now I am well aware that I can block this sort of activity, but some of the senders have some value that I am not ready to totally eliminate. How does one deal with this? I am open to input...

What are your thoughts ... experience? Is blocking the only way to go here?? Am I wrong in my reaction? Should I value this aspect of Twitter as well? Am I missing something about Twitter and how to get the conversations going?

I am anxious to hear from you!

Saying Good By To 2008! What A Year It Has Been

Happy New Year to all!

What a year it has been for on-line communications! Facebook took off, as well as many other social networks ... but also we have seen the birth and rapid growth spurt of Twitter! We have seen everyone get involved in social networking, large corporations as well as solo-preneurs. There seems to be a coming together from all levels that good business is good communications! Relationships count. Trust and loyalty go hand in hand. All and all ... as we have crossed all global barriers, we have become more one-on-one as in days of old. Amazing!

Keep all of this in mind as you cross into 2009. Make sure you grab from it all what works for you. What will keep your communications on track and still benefit from all the resources that are around you. Remember that it isn't what you use, but how you use it. Your success is still a function of what you bring to the table, not what kind of table you use.

I look forward to new adventures on-line that I am sure await us in 2009! I will certainly continue to explore and share with all of you...

Do People Buy Relationships?

Hello all,

I ran into an interesting question yesterday as I was reviewing a client/friend's proposed new website content. That question was do readers buy relationships? What do you think?

The reason it became an issue in my mind was the positioning of the use of the word, relationship. The content developer was saying that my friend should sell the fact that the readers would get a relationship by doing business with her. He used the word "relationship" as the product.

My preference would have been to focus on selling the bullet points that my friend offers that lead to her strong relationships. So... in essence... the relationship is the by-product of what the reader is really purchasing. For example .. her years of experience and endless list of testimonials. Her attention to getting to know the culture of each client's business and their unique individual requirements. Her availability according to whatever budget works, etc.

With all of these bullet points in place, yes you get a relationship. But what do you sell first? Let me know how you perceive this.

Twitter Gains Momentum ... You Think?

Gosh ... I missed the month of December! Shows you what a holiday month can do to one's routine. New Year's resolution is to be more disciplined!

Some things did not stand still, however, and that is Twitter! Have you ever seen anything like it? Everyday more and more people are signing up and sending out tweets! If you use the search sites of www.twellow.com & http://search.twitter.com you can find all sorts of people to follow and have an opportunity to get to know. Make sure you are registered on both sites ( I believe it is automatic on search.twitter) so that you can also be found and followed!

Besides people, more and more businesses ( the large ones and the small ones) are using Twitter. You may be scratching your head and asking "how can this be?" Being a doubter myself I can only say that one "must" use Twitter to know how it works. You cannot put the experience into any type of words that will be 100% understood. A full appreciation for Twitter comes from the experience. That said, don't think the "experience" come with one shot. It is acquired over time.

If you are not yet on Twitter or if you are still questioning it as a new user... make your New Year's resolution to go slowly with it ... find some people to follow and just watch. Don't feel compelled to send out any tweets at first. Once you get a feel for how "you" want to use it, send a tweet out a day and then presto... you'll get the hang of it and the rest is up to you!!!

Whatever you do ... don't NOT give it a try. You'll be missing out on the next huge communications tool of 2009.

It's Cyber Monday!

Happy Cyber Monday!

Are you planning to shop online today? This is the day... get your orders in, get the lower shipping rates and find your sizes and colors in stock! Go get 'em.

I think it would be just great if today ended up being as successful as Black Friday was, numbers wise. (It will certainly be a lot safer one would hope.) Just think that if today "is" successful, the spending confidence could rise and make for a much happier holiday season.

Hopefully you have something online yourself to sell! If it is only a business product you can still put a holiday "special" on your services. Many businesses are using up the remains of their 2008 budgets and/or planning for 2009. Reach out and "grab" some of that "shopping mood" they have going on in their personal lives and mesh it as well as you can into your business!

If you don't have something to sell ... you still have time to make an Amazon affiliate store or at least put out a link to Amazon as an affiliate. You can also list your business item on eBAY. Yes, even services can be listed on eBay! There are "no" excuses today for any business to not have something for sale online.

So ... here's to the holiday season. There are only 24 shopping days left until Christmas and only 21 until Chanukah! Make sure some of the ka-ching goes your way!
